Moving East Choreographic Residencies
Research and Development Residency 2008 - Ben Ash
movingeast and The Place in Partnership are pleased to announce the awarding
of the first of 2 Research and Development Residencies to Ben Ash, who will be Artist in Residence at movingeast 25th Feb. - 7th March &
17th - 21st March 2008.
Ben has worked with many choreographers and companies including Charles
Linehan, Wayne McGregor, Richard Alston, Siohban Davies, Rosmary Butcher, Finn
Walker, Arthur Pita, Wally Cardona (New York) and Jan Puch (Germany).
In 2004 Ben formed the Dog Kennel Hill project with Rachel Lopez de la
Nieta and Henrietta Hale. An umbrella collective with collaborative creation at
it's core, it's aim to produce work that surprises and intregues. Choreographic
work with Dog Kennel Hill Project includes collaborations for The Odd
Honesty Code commissioned by The Place with support from the Moose
Foundation for Spring Loaded 2007, In This World for the 2006 Place Prize
and A Cross and then across for the 2004 Place Prize.
Dance for Film work includes Soft Materials directed by Daria Martin
and two collaborations with Rachel Lopez de la Nieta; So do I directed by
Lucy Baldwin and most recently Coming Soon a short promotional film for
fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto.
Solo choreographic ventures include Tranquilizer for Resolution! a
commissioned Research and Development period with students at London
Contemporary Dance School and Underneath for students at London Studio
Centre. Ben has undertaken various Professional development opportunities
including the Siobhan Davies Dance Company Bank Project, the Gulbenkian course
for choreographers and Composers, and the PAL Arts laboratory.
Ben teaches class at Greenwich Dance Agency and Independent Dance, has led
company class for Random Dance, Protein and CBCP in Lisbon and taught students
at London Contemporary Dance School, Laban, Rambert School, London Studio
Centre, Millennium school, The Circus Space and the Urdang Academy.

Choreographic Residency 2005/6 - Annie Pui Ling
Lok
We awarded the movingeast Choreographic Residency 2005/6 to Annie Pui
Ling Lok, who used the time at movingeast to do research and development on
a trio for herself, Tammy Arjona and Bettina Carpi.
The Residency took place December 5th - 16th and then Jan.16th - 20th.
(a total of 3 weeks).
Choreographic Residency 2005 - Vanessa
Haska
The movingeast Choreographic Residency 2005 was awarded to Vanessa Haska.
Vanessa worked at movingeast Feb. 28th - March 18th 2005 with
Evangelia Prentaki and Tamzen Moulding on a research and development project
with the eventual aim of creating two contrasting solos.
